Since the launch of the Cleantech Network, the Technology Council was notified of a trademark issue that existed with another entity of a similar name. Because of this, the former Cleantech Network has changed its name to the GREEN TECHNOLOGY NETWORK. The mission and initiatives are the same with just a different name!

Support Green Technology Start-Ups!
During the next few weeks, the fate of Pennsylvania's proposed $850 million energy independence initiative will be decided through ongoing negotiations between Governor Ed Rendell and the leadership of the Pennsylvania House and Senate.
As a compromise among these leaders appears likely, the Pittsburgh Technology Council is urging the General Assembly to protect components of this program aimed at supporting the growth Pennsylvania's early stage green technology businesses.
Specifically, the Council has endorsed components of House Special Session Bill 1 that would create a $50 million fund-of-funds to help attract leading clean energy focused venture capital firms to the commonwealth. We have also strongly endorsed the creation of a $56 million clean energy greenhouse aimed at accelerating the commercialization of exciting new technologies and inventions.
These initiatives will help accelerate southwestern Pennsylvania's role in the world's rapidly growing clean energy economy.
Importantly, there are significant differences between the House and Senate versions of this legislation, with the House version providing full funding to support the entrepreneurial initiatives and the senate version providing substantially less funding.
Please contact your legislator to encourage full funding for the clean energy greenhouse and venture capital programs.
